Meet the Team

Children thrive when their teachers are deeply interested and committed to each of them. Our teachers enjoy working with children and parents to create a warm and consistent environment. They act as facilitators of learning and support the idea that each child participates in the process of learning in a unique way.

 

All of our staff exceed their position’s qualification requirements set by the Nursery School’s Advisory Board. They have been selected not only because of their knowledge and experience in the field of early childhood education, but also because as active Christians, comfortable in the expression of their faith in Christ, their personal educational philosophy and teaching style are compatible with SMCNS’s approach. They are background checked according to Pennsylvania’s Child Protective Services Law. All of our staff are certified Mandated Reporters. They also have obtained First Aid & CPR; Fire Safety & Shelter in Place; Water Safety and Emergency Preparedness certifications.

 

We believe that learning is a life-long process, for children as well as adults. Our teachers are offered continual opportunities throughout their employment to further their education and improve their teaching skills. We offer school-wide workshops and seminars and each staff person receives a minimum of 6 clock hours of training annually by an institution approved and accredited by the United States Department of Education. In addition, we encourage our teachers to become actively involved in the local early childhood community.
